When we were reviewing and deciding which community service projects to support, the Center for Women and Families of Eastern Fairfield County's' Domestic Vigil jumped right out at us for so many different reasons. The Center for Women and Families of Eastern Fairfield County is a great local non-profit organization that is dedicated to strengthening women and families and eliminating violence and abuse. It is an organization that Bigelow Tea has a strong relationship with. Not only is it one of the wonderful non-profit organizations that the Bigelow Tea Road Race supports, but Cindi Bigelow was recently named the Community Champion for the Center for Family Justice. The Center for Women and Families of Eastern Fairfield County will be transforming into the Center for Family Justice, complete with name change in 2014. They will be a group of professionals all working together under one roof to provide services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The domestic vigils and the spotlight that they shine on the problem of domestic violence also served to make it a rewarding event. The event was also a great community service event for our 2nd shift to be able to participate in as it was held in the evening hours. Finally, it was also a nice surprise to see our leader, Cindi Bigelow at the event. Not only was she there, but she was also a participant and speaker and seeing her there also helped to make it a special night.
